Looking for a Holistic Provider to Heal Your Acne? Frequently Asked Questions About Naturopathic Medicine
Wondering what makes a naturopathic doctor stand out from the crowd? Or why you should start working with one to help heal your breakouts? Below are some answers to FAQ.
What is naturopathic medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a holistic form of health care using natural remedies (nutrition, herbs, and lifestyle) and making sure to address the root cause of your symptoms. Naturopathic doctors follow certain principles and a therapeutic order to help give our patients the best experience.
What can I expect in my first visit with a naturopathic doctor?
The first visit is usually 60-90mins long, I use this time to gather as much information on your health history, current symptoms, and health goals. Getting this information will help me get down to the root cause to understand why these symptoms are popping up and treat it accordingly.
I also provide you with some digestible tips based on what we discussed to help you start to improve your health, some tips that you can even implement after the visit. And you walk away with comprehensive recommendations to get you started on your health goals.
How will a naturopathic doctor approach my digestion?
Getting a full history is vital. This means getting a picture of what your “normal” looks like and what your digestion has looked like in the past. Before your visit, you will fill out an intake form that dives deep into your history. During our visit, we will expand on those areas to get as much information as possible.
You may find that I ask questions about other areas of your life and health. For example, what you eat every day? What about your use of antibiotics? What do you do for a living and what’s your stress like? At first glance, you may not think any of these questions have relevance to your health, but they really can have a huge influence. For example, say you’re working at a corporate job that provides you with snacks and lunches every day, those things may be feeding into your IBS flares! If I didn’t ask about what you ate at work or your job, I may not have known about that.
Should I see a naturopathic doctor?
Yes! I believe everyone should have a a naturopathic doctor on their team. Not only can naturopathic doctors help you improve the symptoms you’re dealing with, they can help you prevent health issues in the future too!
If you’re ready to dive deep into healing and find answers to symptoms you’ve been dealing with for far too long, then it’s time to see a naturopathic doctor.
Working with a ND is a great way to get to know your body better and overcome symptoms like bloating and constipation. Even if those symptoms have always been your “normal” it doesn’t need to always be struggling with them.
